Welcome to Lost & Found of the OzarksImagine what it must be like for grieving children suffering from the death of a parent, a brother, or a sister. How do they cope with a death in their family? Who can they talk to? Their friends shy away because they don't know what to say. It's hard to talk to the surviving parent because they're already grieving. In Springfield, they can come to Lost & Found, a non-profit grief support center offering services at no charge to families in southwest Missouri. Lost & Found provides loving support in a safe place. Children, teens, parents, young adults and older adults grieving the death of a loved one can openly share their experience as they move through the healing process.
Volunteer Facilitators Needed
Our support groups have experienced some exponential growth over the past few months and we are looking to start a new group in October. In order to meet this need for our families, we are actively recruiting more volunteer facilitators. To become a facilitator you will need to attend the next facilitator training in September. This two day professional training will prepare you to become a volunteer facilitator with our families for the upcoming school year. To be approved to work in our groups you will need to attend both days of training. We also require that you participate in the observation of a couple of groups before becoming an active facilitator. When groups are underway, a Lost & Found staff counselor will participate in groups along with the volunteer facilitators. This provides additional support and expertise for the group and ensures both the children and the facilitators have the support they need. To offer a stable environment for our children,we do ask those who complete our training to make a one year commitment as a facilitator with the group they are assigned. No other education is required. All you need is a love for kids and a willingness to listen.
We recognize that our kids and our facilitators need breaks from group throughout the year. To help facilitate that and keep some continuity for our children, the Lost & Found schedule has been built to mirror the school year. When the kids have a break from school our groups take a break as well.

Registration: To register for the training you must submit a facilitator application
and pay the $30 registration fee. This fee helps cover our costs for the
background checks and meals for the training. Applications can be
downloaded below, or you can contact the
office and one will be mailed to you. If the $30 fee is a barrier, a
limited number of scholarships are available.
