Help For Teens

Chances are, if you are here, someone you know died. Maybe your mother, father, brother, sister?

Whether it just happened, or it happened a long time ago, the emotions you felt are very real. What was it like for you?

This is what a 15-year-old high school student said after his father died from suicide:

“It’s like embarrassing kind of to even talk about. It makes me mad almost at my dad but I’m sad too because I can’t see or talk to him anymore. I don’t like to talk about it because no one knows what to say to me and mostly what they do say is like, whatever.

I never talk about it with my mom because she gets upset and then I feel bad that I brought it up.”

Maybe you can relate to this student or maybe you have had some of these feelings:
No one understands what I’m going through.
There is no one I can talk to about this.
Everyone wants me to talk about my feelings and I don’t want to.
I wish people would leave me alone.
I’m different from everyone else.
When will I stop being so sad? Mad? Lonely?
I hurt.
I hate when people act like I should “get over it.”

There is no right or wrong way to grieve a death. At Lost & Found there are other kids your age that may actually understand how you feel. Talking to others like you may help you to feel better. You can contact Lost & Found to learn how you can meet other kids like you.
